Our work aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), reinforcing our commitment to education and sustainable textile practices.
Làmhan is a new charity based in Stirling, Scotland.
We are dedicated to preserving and teaching traditional sewing and textile crafts, particularly heritage skills at risk of being lost. Through hands-on workshops and public education, we provide opportunities for people to develop sewing skills, fostering creativity, self-sufficiency, and a deeper appreciation for Scotland’s textile heritage.
Làmhan aims to become a leading hub for textile heritage education in Scotland, recognised for its high-quality training, commitment to sustainability, and efforts to preserve cultural and artistic traditions. We provide a welcoming space where individuals can learn, collaborate, and promote a more sustainable future through sewing, making, and mending.
We are currently waiting to find out if our offer on permanent base to establish a dedicated centre for textile heritage education will be accepted. In the meantime, we run classes at the Dunblane Centre, ensuring continued access to high-quality sewing tuition for the community.
Free places for adults on our Parent & Child workshops
At Làmhan, we believe that creativity should be accessible to everyone, which is why we’re offering free places for adults in our parent-and-child sewing classes.
We know that learning a new skill together not only strengthens bonds but also builds confidence and sparks imagination.
By covering the cost for parents or guardians, we’re making it easier for families to share in the joy of sewing without financial barriers.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to refresh your skills, this is a chance to connect, create, and be part of a supportive community.
It’s not just about sewing—it’s about fostering meaningful experiences that last a lifetime.
